Hailing from Australia, label newcomer Kaiyan ushers us into 2021 with the visionary single, “Apollo 11,” inspired by the unprecedented 1969 lunar voyage. The song begins with a moving tribute to the astronauts themselves, coupled with celestial pads and a poignant violin theme. A chilled beat and crescendoing arpeggio arrive just past the quarter turn of the arrangement, followed by the emergence of the central motif of the composition: a stirring, bell-tinged melody. Before the song’s end, the arrangement downshifts once again, and the listener experiences the (sonic) awe of the lunar landing once more.
