Hungarian artist East Cafe has been a core contributor to Silk for years; he returns to our deeper imprint Silk Textures with a lovely two-track EP. The title cut, Late Night Call, is exactly what you would expect from the title: sultry and seductive, deep and groovy. The track begins with a variety of light, atmospheric touches and a steady house beat. Soon thereafter, a breathy and provocative female vocal enters the mix. In the main break, we hear the literal dialing of a phone, as the vocal stabs come into fuller focus -- a successful late night call, indeed.

The second cut in the EP is "Another Lonely Thursday," an equally sexy and subdued tune. A wobbling bass and off-kilter percussion set the rhythm, while delicate pads and various innovative samples fill out the rest of the soundscape. In the main break, we are met by haunting pads and a mysterious male vocal sample, as the track shifts into moodier terrain.
