about

Silk Music is excited to present the deeper half of Silk's seventh annual remix compilation. With an extra layer of warmth, our "Deep & Chill Selections" EP features moving contributions from Elypsis, Terry Da Libra, Approaching Black, Jayeson Andel, and SineRider.

We start this release off with Elypsis' rendition of "Healer" by Gregory Esayan. As the title suggests, "Healer" is a tune that rejuvenates our souls. It lifts us up while grounding our feet, a testament to stand tall in adversity and accept life's wavering moments. Elypsis' remix reinforces the simple fact that we have agency over our own happiness. We survive a series of ups and downs, from which we can ultimately thrive. Like sound frequencies cohesively balancing every element, "Healer" reminds us that we are part of life's masterpiece.

Jumping into the creative mind of a Silk label veteran, Terry Da libra showcases his remix of "Couldn't Open Up" by Stendahl & LaMeduza. In contrast to its downtempo original version, this remix embeds us with a momentum of percussive tints, enticing vocals, and luring basslines that sonically express the complexity of relationships between lovers.

As if we weren't deep enough, Approaching Black cascades us into another layer of depth and tranquility, courtesy of his new remix of Vintage & Morelli's track, "My Rose Enchanted Destiny." A tab of syncopation mixed with an array of compelling elements, Approaching Black's remix immediately drops us into a valley of limitless fervor and discovery.

Next we have Jayeson Andel's remix of "Haunted" by Movement Machina. As the intro cues, Jayeson Andel guides us into the warm unknown. In reverie and awe, we're gently pushed past the frontier of ambience, only to be embraced by melodic glitches and intertwining basslines. In a spur of vocal and percussive chops, Jayeson Andel's remix dabbles between progressive and future bass elements, adding a flair of momentum before residing back into the hypnotic state of enchanting vocals and delicate pads.

SineRider closes out the compilation with a downtempo remix of Gregory Esayan's beloved "Awaken Sleepwalker." Like an exhibit of endearing soundscapes and atmospheric beauty, "Awaken Sleepwalker" is the perfect portrayal of closing one's chapter in life and beginning anew. Upon slowing down and accepting all the timbres of our emotional spectrum, we find peace.
