Silk Music proudly presents "Silk Remixed 09,” the ninth installment of the annual series. The release comprises new interpretations of some of our most beloved releases from the past few years, courtesy of various deep, progressive, and trance sensations from our core roster.

Kicking off this year’s ’Silk Remixed’ package, Polish label veteran Andromedha delivers an exhilarating take on A.M.R’s “Pale Blue.” In the early going, a peak-hour progressive groove underpins a celestial array of kaleidoscopic arpeggios. Following a powerful crescendo, the rhythm elements retreat, paving the way for a gorgeous main breakdown sequence, in which an awe-inspiring orchestral score takes center stage. In the thunderous drop to follow, the unforgettable main vocal motif from the original version is a thrilling final addition to the mesmerizing soundscape.

Released three years ago, Sound Quelle’s “Djerba” helped solidify the Russian talent’s status as one of the greatest composers of progressive electronic music of his generation. His countryman Noequalgods now serves up a tasteful (and often blissful) rendering, which honors the original arrangement and themes, albeit with a much deeper rhythmic flow. The chilled groove allows the intoxicating vocal themes and exotic instrumental elements to really stand out throughout the composition. In the main break, we are reminded of the extraordinary beauty of the original mix’s climactic elements. In the final movement of the arrangement, Noequalgods adds a few subtle side melodies and a powerful new bass layer to euphoric effect.

Celebrated Latvian duo Blood Groove & Kikis introduced the Silk Music community to a deeper direction to their sound via the memorable “Close To You” EP in October of this past year. Gifted UK-based talent Valiant officially makes his label debut with his exceedingly beautiful ‘Pierside’ remix. Seaside motifs abound, as a gentle house groove and oscillating bassline guide the listener to a late-summer seaside locale. Beautiful bell-tinged melodies and a variety of other atmospheric flourishes ultimately lead to a transcendent main breakdown, in which romantic string themes and the faint cries of seagulls euphoniously coalesce. The listener continues to drift out to sea in the concluding moments of Valiant’s blissful take.

There’s nothing somnolent about Terry Da Libra’s uplifting interpretation of the A.M.R classic, “Sleep.” A muscular progressive house groove centers on a funky, sliding bassline, as echoes of the song’s refrain (“Sleep till I come home”) echo overhead. Closer to the song’s climax, stirring string themes -- a TDL signature -- also begin to fill out the soundscape. In the main breakdown, the beats slowly fade out, as the titular vocal phrase receives the full spotlight; in the drop to follow, Terry infuses the arrangement with a more anthemic vibe, courtesy of a reverberating new lead theme.

Closing out the Silk Remixed 09 EP, the trio of Hausman, 5ALVO, and Lumynesynth share the welcome surprise of an unplugged, ‘Acoustic’ rendering of their recent single, “Eden,” which was championed by the likes of Cosmic Gate. In this version, Lumynesynth’s extraordinarily beautiful vocals imbue the listener’s soul with feelings of longing and romance, as equally gorgeous guitar licks punctuate her verses. The backing drums powerfully crescendo in the song’s concluding minutes, further intensifying the emotional resonance of the song.
