In anticipation of the release of their two-part Silk Royal Showcase 05 compilation, Jacob Henry and Tom Fall are excited to present "Royal Selections," a sampler of standout tunes from the album. The four tracks chosen here represent the range of progressive sounds on Silk Royal Showcase 05, as well as the weekly label radio show from which it derives its name.

Kicking off the sampler is a new original from celebrated Silk contributor Vintage & Morelli, who has been a fixture on the SRS compilation series in recent years. The breadth of his work, especially of late, has spanned a variety of electronic sub-genres; "Dark Room, Happy Thoughts" finds the Serbian talent back in peak-hour progressive territory, the sound for which he is most known. In the early going, an energetic groove is punctuated by a heavily delayed vocal stab sequence, as well as a variety of fluttering melodic layers. The side-chained, locomotive-fueled groove continues to crescendo toward the main break, where a gorgeous piano theme joins the already mesmerizing soundscape. This anthemic, rapturous masterpiece is written by an artist at the height of his powers.

Appearing previously on the 3rd edition of SRS (as 1/2 of Shahin & Bench), Eskai a.k.a. Shahin Kanafchian delivers a euphoric tune in "Wonersh." Like the preceding track in the sampler, it features rapturous melodic themes and a thunderous groove. Soaring, layered synth lines color the soundscape, culminating in a gorgeous breakdown, highlighted by a poignant piano theme, coupled with an equally uplifting new synth lead. The drop to follow is pure euphoria, as the triumphant lead soars above the galloping groove.

Appearing twice on this year's compilation, Polish artist Kris Maydak is a phenomenal talent, who made a tremendous opening statement on Silk Music in early 2015 with the brilliant "Vault Sky." Our third 'Royal Selection' is Maydak's emotive "Wind Of Change," a vintage trance stormer. After a suspenseful build, centering on a dark, rolling bassline, we are met with a gorgeous pad-based theme, followed by an unforgettable lead motif. The stormy soundscape evolves into a driving, explosive trance anthem.

Our great friend Sundriver, an artist whose music is synonymous with (the best of) Balearic trance & progressive, offers the chilled beachside gem "Chasing The Light." Romantic synths and sweeping pads establish his signature tone early and pave the way for a blissful main theme in the break. The warmth and evocative nature of Sundriver's music is perhaps unparalleled. We're excited for listeners to enjoy another late summer day with Sundriver via the experience of hearing this exceptional new track.
