about

Silk Digital's third "Sampler" showcases the work of some of Silk's most established and reputable artists, as well as several rising talents in modern progressive. Hungarian sensation Faces kicks off the compilation with the pensive and moody "One Way," which features deeper textures, an echoing male vocal stab, and a tremolo'ed pad effect that appears throughout the track. Atlantis Ocean, the Russian duo behind the anthemic "Life Frequency," returns to Silk with "Airwave." The production is imbued with poignant melodies, which feature prominently in the main break. Canadian star Dezza contributes Adelina, an ode to his lovely wife. An aggressive bassline and rhythm give the track a nice dancefloor groove, while gentle chords slowly crescendo throughout the tune. Soarsweep pres. Smooth Stab follows with the lush "Time is Precious"; this Russian project is quickly carving out a niche for his ability to craft gentle, yet evocative progressive tracks. Label newcomer Oliver Southey presents "My Places," an upbeat prog stormer with a Chris Reece-inspired chord progression and lovely "dancing" arpeggio. Mighty Polish duo Quarrel & Ezzo provide the groovy "Second Chance," a disco-friendly production and one of the standouts in the release. Frequent contributor Daniel Mahuad offers "Departure," in which his exceptional gift for sound design and creating "outer-worldly" textures is once again on display. Monojoke's "Moonchaser" is also celestially-themed and represents a more tech-influenced endeavor for the celebrated Polish artist; the beatless breakdown, with swirling string effects, suggest a successful landing. Finally, French artist Faskil closes out the package with the dark, prog-breaks cut "Blow Up". Built upon a high octane, 1/16 note bassline pattern and ominous pads, the tune develops post-break into a veritable prog stormer.
